Second seminar in Parliament of the Czech Republic
On November 6 in the facilities of Parliament, a seminar took place on the theme of globalization and its repercussions. Christian College was a joint sponsor; also involved in organizing the event was the Christian Democratic Party (KDU-CSL) and the non-profit association IPES.
The introductory speech was given by Tomas Evan, chairman of Christian College. He defined the term globalization and placed it into the context of world history and the economic developments of the 19th and 20th centuries. After him, Pavel Kohout (Partners, a.s.) responded to the question "What exactly is globalization and what is it good for?" The last speaker was Martin Kupka, top economist at the bank CSOB. He spoke on the phenomenon of globalization from the viewpoint of a financier.
In addition to the main theme of globalization, the speakers addressed the current economic crisis. The discussion that followed was concerned with how the two topics are interrelated.
Another seminar continuing with this theme will take place on December 4, 2009.
